Dear Christ Episcopal School Community,

After an extensive and prayerful search process, the Christ Episcopal School Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Father Charles Latour as the next Head of School, effective July 1, 2026.

Father Charlie’s academic credentials include a Master in Education from The University of Dayton, a Juris Doctor from the Boston College School of Law, a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Divinity from the Aquinas Institute of Theology, and an undergraduate degree from Purdue University.

Father Charlie, an ordained Episcopal priest, comes to Christ Episcopal School from St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Metairie, LA, where he has served as Head of the Upper School since 2022. He was previously the Interim Director of Enrollment Management at Trinity Episcopal School in New Orleans from 2020 until 2022 and the Head of School at Archbishop Hannan High School from 2010 until 2020. Father Charlie has also been a chief financial officer, a dean of students, a founding principal, a teacher, and a coach. He has over 25 years of experience in education including positions in all facets of school operations and administration.

Father Charlie’s appointment is the result of a comprehensive and diligent search led by the Head of School Search Committee. We are grateful to every member of our community who participated with such thoughtfulness, care, and faith in this important process.

The Search Process

  • The position was advertised broadly across multiple Episcopal and independent school platforms;
  • Seventeen (17) candidates submitted applications, representing a diverse and highly qualified pool of educators and leaders;
  • Six semi-finalists were chosen by the Search Committee for initial interviews; and
  • Two finalists were invited to campus for multi-day visits.

During these visits, both candidates met or were interviewed by the 14 members of the Board of Trustees, along with 11 students from the Middle and Upper Schools who were selected by their Division Heads to represent their peers. These students exemplified the thoughtfulness and maturity that make our community so special.

In addition, 30 members of the faculty and staff, including department chairs and teachers across all divisions, participated in interviews and provided detailed evaluations of both finalists.

Deliberation and Decision

The Search Committee collected and synthesized all feedback from students, faculty, and trustees, along with thorough reference checks and professional and personal background reviews. After prayerful discussion and discernment, the Search Committee unanimously recommended Father Charlie to the Board of Trustees, which voted unanimously to appoint Father Charlie as the next Head of School. The Rector and Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church then offered its full support and unanimous approval, consenting to the appointment.

A Shared Vision for the Future

As he steps into his new role, Father Charlie brings a clear and compelling vision for the future of Christ Episcopal School–one centered on academic excellence and a deep commitment to our Episcopal values. He has a proven track record of expanding school communities through purposeful leadership and a deep commitment to mission-driven growth.

In his previous Head of School position, Father Charlie led significant enrollment increases by strengthening academic programs, fostering authentic community connections, and ensuring that each family felt known and valued. His thoughtful approach to growth–rooted in excellence, faith, and relationship–aligns seamlessly with the Board of Trustees’ vision for a vibrant and sustainable future for all divisions of Christ Episcopal School, including the long-term success of the Upper School.

Together, Father Charlie and the Board share a unified commitment to strategic growth that enhances the school’s academic strength, financial health, and Episcopal identity. This partnership will focus on broadening outreach, enriching programs, and deepening engagement with current and prospective families, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to experience the distinctive education and unique experiences that Christ Episcopal School offers.

With Father Charlie’s leadership and the Board’s steadfast support, Christ Episcopal School is poised for a bright and purposeful season of growth—one that honors the school’s traditions while embracing the promise of its future.

With gratitude,

The CES Board of Trustees

Dear CES Community,

We are pleased to share an update on the progress of the Head of School search.

Since beginning the process on August 14th, the Search Committee has reviewed a strong and diverse pool of applications. Our submission deadline has now passed, and the Committee is in the process of narrowing the field to a group of six highly qualified semi-finalists whose experience and leadership align closely with Christ Episcopal School’s mission and values.

The next phase of the search will involve in-depth interviews and assessments with these semi-finalists, to evaluate further their leadership styles, educational philosophies, and capacity to engage thoughtfully with students, faculty, families, and the broader community. At the conclusion of this phase, the Committee will extend invitations to the selected finalists for an on-campus interview and for the candidates to engage and interact with the faculty, staff, and students.

The Committee remains committed to a rigorous, confidential, and deliberate process, with the goal of recommending to the Board of Trustees the strongest possible candidate to serve as our next Head of School.

We are grateful for your continued support and prayers throughout this important process. We look forward to keeping you informed as we move toward the final stages of the search.

With gratitude,

Search Committee
