Welcome, CES families!

As president of the Christ Episcopal School Parent Association (CESPA), I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new and returning families.

CESPA serves as both a volunteer group and a fundraising arm of the school.

As a Christ Episcopal School parent, you are automatically a member of CESPA, and participating in CESPA is the gateway to becoming involved and knowledgeable about the school. It is also one of the best ways to connect with other parents and the greater Christ Episcopal School community. We encourage all parents to learn about us and sign up to help with one or more CESPA committees. In addition, we need all families to participate in our school’s biggest and most significant fundraiser, Art at the Park, which takes place in April.

Thank you,

Julie Faucheux

CESPA President 2019-2020

We encourage all parents to learn about us and sign up to help.

AATP is Christ Episcopal School’s week-long celebration of the arts, culminating in our unique take on a school fair. Kicking off with an adults-only cocktail event, the week progresses with a child-centered gallery-style art exhibit and reception; the jaw-dropping, student-created Box Parade; and finally, a Saturday spent on our sprawling campus with confetti eggs, wacky hair, and arts and crafts to spare.

It is the school’s most important event and brings in significant funding that supports educational enhancements for the school.  There are many ways to get involved in this event. Volunteer opportunities include helping with or chairing one of the following AATP committees:

Opening Night Party – March 27, 2020

Art Stroll – CBC – TBD

Box Parade – CBC gym – April 3, 2020

AATP Daytime Fair – CBC – April 4, 2020

Bingo! Family Fun Night is a favorite event drawing attendance across the entire student body from the ECC through the High School. Students and their families enjoy raucous rounds of Bingo and a pizza dinner at the CBC with homework passes and cash prizes up for grabs. Volunteers are needed for day-of-event duties that include setup, registration, assistance during the event, and cleanup.  Our first Bingo! Family Fun Night is set for September 19, 2019.

What better way to leave your child’s legacy at CES than a birthday book dedicated to them in the school’s library?  Volunteers are needed to organize books, assist students in making their choices, and make book presentations to the students.  This is an easy and fun way to meet students at CES.

We celebrate the start of each new school year with an adults-only, back-to-school barbecue in August at the CBC. Featuring live music and a casual, laid-back vibe, this evening event is a great way to reconnect with old friends and welcome new friends to our CES community.  This is a one-day volunteer job that includes setup and cleanup.

This fundraiser raises money for teacher equipment and supplies.  Throughout the year, families clip coupons from their groceries and the students turn them in to their homerooms.  Volunteers hang posters on campus and collect the coupons from each office periodically throughout the school year.

St. Nicholas makes a special morning visit to the ECC to the delight of our early pre-kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students and their families.  This is an easy, two-day volunteer job with opportunities including setup, decorating, and assistance during the activities.

This committee helps connect new parents and students to our school community.  Great for working parents and others short on time but knowledgeable about CES, volunteers are needed to connect with new families to answer questions and make them feel welcome.  Volunteers also help with setup and cleanup for the New Student Night.

There is nothing like a little friendly competition on the field to cap off the school year. This is a one-day job when volunteers are needed to organize the event, set up the activities, and help the students. Field Days (a separate one for each school division), take place in late April and early May.

This important committee provides meals or gift cards to families within our school community when a special need arises or in a family circumstance where help with meals would be a blessing.  Volunteers are needed to coordinate meals through an online program.

Students get to show off their campus and create lasting memories with their grandparents or special friends.  Volunteers are needed to welcome guests, set up, and serve refreshments.  This is a single-day volunteer job.

CES offers our school and business communities a variety of Christmas greens and poinsettias for purchase for holiday season decorating. This effort provides vital funds for classroom and campus equipment. Volunteers are needed for sales in early October.  Help is also needed in late November to help organize and distribute the orders.

Literary Week is a week-long student enrichment program that brings local authors and performers to our campus for a week of literary adventures, while our traditional Book Fair allows students to shop for books for themselves and their classrooms at the CBC.  Volunteers will sign up for various shifts to work on campus during these two events. Book Fair is October 21-25, 2019, and Literary Week will take place February 17-21, 2020.

The CBC gym is transformed into a one-stop shopping extravaganza for the holidays.  The event takes place Thursday and Friday, November 7-8, 2019.  Volunteers are needed for setup, breakdown, and hospitality services onsite.

This committee coordinates activities and programming promoting kindness for students throughout the year, culminating with a week-long celebration of kindness.  Kindness Week will take place March 9-13, 2020.

This committee works with teachers in the spring to compile school supply lists.  Volunteers are needed to help organize and distribute orders before the start of the school year.

A popular year-long fundraiser, Smoothie King delivers smoothies to campus for purchase one day each month. and profits directly support The Barn.  Volunteers are needed to distribute smoothies to students once a month during the school year.

This committee helps plan lunches or treats for our dedicated faculty and staff.  Volunteers are needed to donate items and help coordinate these appreciation days.

April 27 – May 1, 2020, will be spent celebrating our dedicated teachers and staff members. This committee plans something special each day, including lunch, treats, and more.  Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve lunch, get donations, and plan the events.

Our wildly popular CBC spirit store needs volunteers! No retail experience? No problem! Our chair will happily train volunteers available to help sell apparel during special events throughout the year as well as during normal hours of operation. The Den is typically open Mondays from noon-3 p.m., but please follow CES social media for scheduling changes.

Volunteers work with our chaplains to help plan worship services, provide wine and bread, and assist with setup and service bulletins.  Volunteers are also needed to help in the Godly Play classrooms.
