Head of School’s Welcome

Welcome from Head of School Dr. John Murray

Welcome to Christ Episcopal School! One of the first things you will notice at CES is that our school is a joyful place. Whether you are walking our halls, having a meal, watching a class discussion, or attending an event after school, you will find students and faculty who greet you warmly and who welcome you into our school. As you begin the journey of investigating independent schools for your family, I am confident you will come to understand the true value of a CES education. Christ Episcopal School is a remarkable place offering a challenging and supportive educational experience in a welcoming Christian community. Many independent schools provide a great education and others have a faith–based mission, but few do both well. We do at CES.

Christ Episcopal School is committed to developing an educated conscience in its students that will ignite in them lives of purpose. Our school’s dedication to this goal is what drew me to this place and what energizes the work that all of us do here. We believe every person is made in the image of a loving God. Therefore, we aspire to be an inclusive community, one in which every student feels comfortable to be who they are in the context of meaningful relationships with their classmates and teachers. These bonds are strengthened through our emphasis on community experiences, whether they be our service projects, our divisional chapel services, or our outdoor education program.

As an early pre-kindergarten through grade 12 school, everything we do is connected, and we are committed to the ongoing development and coordination of our programs to meet our students’ needs as the educational landscape changes. Our graduates are young men and women who are well prepared to succeed at the finest colleges and universities, have a strong sense of purpose, and are eager to make a difference in the world around them.

At Christ Episcopal School, we know what matters most. While academic success and college placement are important to our school community, each student is so much more than a grade point average or a standardized test score. While the pages of our website provide a glimpse into the CES experience, our people are our greatest asset. I encourage you to contact our admissions office to schedule a campus visit to meet our faculty and students. Our extraordinary faculty members are more than just teachers; they are mentors and role models who inspire students to pursue their academic and co-curricular passions and to support one another in the process. Chris Episcopal School is a place where your child will be encouraged to think critically, act with integrity, and lead by serving others. The pursuit of excellence and a care for others is what makes CES so special.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful campuses and sharing with your family the exceptional value of the CES experience.

Sincerely,

Dr. John Murray
