Music & Choir

Christ Episcopal School students benefit from formal music education beginning in early pre-k through eighth grade.

Students participate in weekly classes where they begin learning the foundations of music and music appreciation. As they get older, we begin incorporating music theory and teaching them to read music and play instruments. We also explore the cultural impacts that music has on our world.

Musical theater is incorporated at all grade levels throughout our program. Performance opportunities abound: we have the Kindergarten Circus and third grade World’s Fair, classes that lead Eucharist and chapel services, and students who start their own rock band.

Choir

All students in grades first through eighth are eligible to participate in the extracurricular Lower School or Middle School choirs. Singers rehearse weekly and undertake a rigorous, fun, and exciting repertoire each semester. Students learn proper vocal technique, choral blending, music theory, performance etiquette, and more, augmenting what is taught in general music classes.

Performance opportunities include chapel and special Eucharist services, community concerts, district assessments, and more. The choir also participates in a national performance each year, with prior trips to such locations as Chicago, New York City, Orlando, and Anaheim. Students in choir form a tight-knit family of singers that learn, grow, and have fun together.
