Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
I will, with God’s help
Book of Common Prayer, Holy Baptism, p 305
Christ Episcopal School is undoubtedly a special, spiritual place. The question above is from The Baptismal Covenant. Whenever a child or adult is baptized, it is our pattern in the Episcopal Church that all of us present reaffirm our faith and the work we are called to do as followers of Jesus. That work is founded in Love.
It is also in our Baptismal Covenant to “respect the dignity of every human being” which is clearly a labor of love on this campus. We are not all Episcopalians at this school, and it is precisely that diversity of experience, belief, and background, that helps us be more attentive listeners to one another. The Episcopal Church welcomes your children here, and their abilities, their questions, and their joys, into this community.
It is my responsibility as chaplain to make sure we as a school are caring for the mind, body, and soul of students, families, and faculty.
Every week, we take time to share in hearing God’s word, responding in prayer, and in engaging in service to others. Because these services are for the good of our whole community, you are always invited to attend worship with your child.
Christian Education for all grade levels reflects the artistic and intellectual nature of the school. We incorporate respectful dialogue into all aspects of spiritual formation, because that is the kind of community we strive to be.
In service to others, students in all divisions participate in service learning projects on campus, in their communities, and in partnership with those in need. We know that students learn, not only in the classroom, but also with their lives, rolling up sleeves, and being the hands of Christ to others.
It is my joy to have been called to this place to serve as priest, teacher, and chaplain.
