We'll spend the next couple days getting reacquainted and finding our bearings before we hit the ground running on Monday. Please take some time to ease yourselves and your children back into the routine. We're here if you need us, so please don't hesitate to call. Problems have solutions, and anything can be fixed. Second grade parents will have their Coffee on Thursday, August 21st, 8:30 a.m. at Christwood. This is an excellent opportunity to get together in a casual setting to have any questions answered and to get to know the parents of your child's classmates. This is not mandatory, so please don't stress if you can't make it. Lunch with Mr. Homer The tradition continues. Please join Mr. Homer as he prepares lunch (dogs and fixins) for our students at the ECC on Friday, August 29th and at the CBC on Friday, September 5th. This will take place during your child's regular lunch period so please come if you can. Emergency Closure Since we are in hurricane season (YIKES), please review your handbook (page 33) on emergency closure. Basically, it's quite simple. Any time that St. Tammany Schools are closed, so are we. Channel 4 television and WLL radio (870 AM) will also be used to announce school closings. Last year we contracted with SchoolReach to enhance our communications. It is imperative that all information is up to date as we call every number we have on file for our students to make announcements. Please listen to the message from us as it is not necessary to return the call which clogs the entire process. Got Some Old Tennis Balls? Ms. Sparkman-Boyd is requesting old tennis balls to use on stools in her classroom. If you have any, please send them to the middle school office. Lunch Program Update The lunch program will begin the Tuesday after Labor Day. We will be sending menus home in the next few days if you would like to place an order. The due dates are important as we contract with an outside vendor, and extra lunches are not ordered. Subscribe to the Thursday Newsletter!! Please make sure to sign up to receive this newsletter every Thursday via email. Go to the school's website (www.christepiscopalschool.org) and under the News banner you will be able to subscribe. We will make paper copies until the Thursday after Labor Day. After that, you will need to go into the appropriate school office to pick up a copy if that is what you want. Everything you need to know about CES is located on our website so take some time to review its content. If there is any information which you would like to have published in the weekly newsletter, please forward it to Pam Sims (in a Word document) pam@christepiscopalschool.org by Wednesday afternoon. Please Let Us Know... If you have any changes or corrections to your personal information which need to be amended, please contact Pam Sims (871-9902, extension 208). It is most important to have accurate data on our students. The school directory will be published in the next few weeks so don't forget to make those changes. Chapel Schedule Please note this differs from the Parent and Student Handbook. Lower school attends Chapel at 8:20 on Monday and Friday and middle school attends on Tuesday and Friday. Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten chapel will be announced at a later date. Cub Scout Information If your son (grades 1-5) is interested in Cub Scouting, you and your son are invited to an Open House on Sunday, August 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Commons Room (next to Christ Episcopal Church). There will be a short presentation by the Pack Leader and then the Den Leaders will be available to answer your questions. The meeting should only last an hour. CES has a strong program of Scouting, and we would be honored to have your son participate. Contact Bert Duvic at BertD@maxderbes.com or Paul VanDeventer at paulvandeventer@msn.com if you cannot attend and wish to join. That's it for Now Once again, please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions or problems. Appointments with Mr. Homer are set up through Pam Sims. We are here to make your child's school experience memorable, and we invite you to partner with us to make it happen. Just take a deep breath.
