8th Canoe

WILDERNESS EDUCATION

The focus of the middle school Wilderness Education program is to help students become comfortable living in and traveling through the outdoors. Through a combination of classroom instruction and field trips, students learn to paddle a canoe, survive in the elements, outdoor cooking, safety and maintenance of the fragile ecological system of our earth.

By the time a student graduates from CES, he or she should feel confident in his/her ability to spend a great deal of time outdoor and to do so in a way that provides enjoyment, comfort and safety while having minimal negative impact on the environment.
